Frequently Asked Questions

First things first, we’re definitely not rich. 😂

Our income has changed quite a bit throughout our years on the road. We’ve worked regular jobs, worked at an RV park, dealt with unemployment, taken on-site jobs and found different ways to make things work depending on where life has taken us.

Currently, Jake works an on-site job in Las Vegas, and Ashliy earn income through social media and affiliate marketing.

RV life still comes with bills, groceries, campground fees, fuel, repairs and all the other normal expenses.

It’s not a permanent vacation. It’s just regular life… but in a house with wheels.

We live in a 35-foot 2017 Coleman 314BH travel trailer. Yes, a bumper pull.

Over the years we’ve changed quite a bit inside to make it work better for our family. We’ve replaced furniture, added storage, upgraded appliances and tackled plenty of DIY projects.

When four people and three pets share roughly 300ish square feet, you learn to make every inch count. 😂

Ramdy Orton, Our 2017 RAM 3500 dually.

And yes, he’s named after Randy Orton. 😂

Nope!

Full-time RV living doesn’t necessarily mean traveling all the time.

Right now we’re mostly stationary in Las Vegas NV. We’ve had other seasons where we’ve traveled much more.

That’s actually one of the things we love about this lifestyle. It can change with your life.

We homeschool!

We’ve been homeschooling Logan since second grade. Currently Logan is in high school and Dean is in elementary.

We use an online curriculum (Miacademy and Miaprep) along with the real-life learning that naturally happens along the way.

And no, homeschool in an RV doesn’t always look like adorable lessons outside with a mountain or waterfall in the background.

Although we wish it did 😂

So far, Concha Del Mar in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico still holds the #1 spot.

RVing next to the ocean in Mexico is pretty hard to beat.

But we’re always willing to let another campground try

The unpredictability.

Something can break at any moment. Weather can change your plans. Campgrounds can be full. Travel days can go completely sideways.

You learn pretty quickly to be flexible and to keep a sense of humor.

Preferably both.

The experiences and memories we’ve made as a family.

We’ve gotten to see places and do things we probably never would’ve experienced otherwise, and our kids have grown up knowing that home doesn’t necessarily have to be one permanent address.

For us, the memories have always mattered more than the square footage.

Absolutely.

Would we do some things differently knowing what we know now?

100%.

But moving into the RV?

We’d make that decision again.

Start by figuring out what your version of full-time RV life looks like.
You don’t have to travel every week. You don’t have to homeschool. You don’t have to work remotely. And you definitely don’t have to do things exactly the way another RV family does them.
Figure out your budget, income, RV and tow vehicle needs, where you want to stay and how often you actually want to travel.
Then research ALOT.
RV weights, campground costs, internet, insurance, maintenance, repairs, residency, mail and all the boring stuff nobody puts in the pretty travel videos.
And know that you’ll still learn half of it after you start.
We sure did.

We keep our favorite RV gear, upgrades, household items and other things we actually use linked in our Amazon Favorites.

If we find something that genuinely makes living in a small space easier, we’re probably going to tell you about it.

You can find Wander About Fulltime RV on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

We share RV life, family adventures, projects, campground life, things going completely wrong and plenty of moments we probably could’ve kept to ourselves.

Making memories one mile at a time. ❤️
